History of our Farm

Carter’s Blueberries began in 1985 as a wooded lot that was cleared and then the blueberry bushes were planted. The farm was tended by Hughlon Carter until he was 78 years old. God led us (Gerald and Cynthia) to move from Atlanta to South Georgia to take over the farm. This was a huge change for us, as well as our children. Over the last three years we have dealt with a freeze, excess amount of rain, and dropping of prices which led us to look for a new way to sell our blueberries. Out of the bad comes the good. God led us on our new venture through our old church in Canton, Georgia. Our friends at the church heard about our situation, that money was so tight we feared we would lose the farm. God lead our old church to the idea of a fundraiser. We loved the idea, but did not realize how much we could actually sell. God blessed us, the mission team that helped us, as well as the church and many who received berries below the retail price (we have previously sold berries under the name Naturipe which sells at Wal-Mart in 2008).
