History of our Farm

Carter’s Blueberries began in 1985 as a wooded lot that was cleared and then the blueberry bushes were planted. The farm was tended by Hughlon Gerald Carter Sr., my father, until he was 78 years old. God led us to move from Atlanta to South Georgia to take over the farm. This was a huge change for us, as well as, our children. Over the past years, we have dealt with freezes, excess amount of rain, and dropping of prices which led us to look for a new way to sell blueberries. Out of the bad comes the good. God led us on our new venture through our old church in Canton, Georgia. Our friends at the church heard about our situation, that money was so tight we feared we would lose the farm. God lead our old church to the idea of a fundraiser, we loved the idea, but did not realize how much we could actually sell. God blessed us, the mission team that helped us, as well as the church and many who received berries. We have previously sold berries under the name Naturipe which sold at Wal-Mart in 2008 and in 2011 some of our blueberries were sold in China. We also sold through G Mar which sold our fresh berries throughout the East Coast.  Our frozen berries was sold to Peterson's Farm in Michigan, then shipped all over the United States.  In 2014 we leased the farm out. In 2015 we sold the farm. We now do fundraising of blueberries only, by selling rabbiteyes blueberries of farmers in Alma Ga. the Blueberry capital of Ga. God is good.
